The glucomannokinase of Prevotella bryantii B(sub)14 and its potential role in regulating beta-glucanase expression

Article Abstract:

Results demonstrate that Prevotella bryantii B(sub)14 possesses glucose and mannose transport systems and express glucokinase and mannokinase activities. Data reveal that the glucomannokinase is inhibited by glucose analogue 2-deoxyglucose, suggesting that the enzyme activity is involved in the regulation of glucanase expression directly or indirectly.

Protonmotive force regulates the membrane conductance of Streptococcus bovis in a non-ohmic fashion

Article Abstract:

The rate of H+ influx into Streptococcus bovis is about 20 times higher than has ever been recorded in lactic acid bacteria. This bacterium still ferments sugars in its non-growing state at a rate that exceeds its actual needs.

Selection of a highly monensin-resistant Prevotela bryantii subpopulation with altered outer membrane characteristics

Article Abstract:

Research conducted on monensin treatment of a gram-negative bacterium is presented. Experiments demonstrate that the subpopulation of Prevotella bryantii cultures has different membrane characteristics.
