Med Resorts International Inc. is enjoying the benefits of outsourcing its billing and collection functions. The company, which markets and sells vacation programs, selected service providers that have an extensive knowledge of the leisure industry, the ability to establish good rapport with customers and the needed expertise in collecting. The result of the outsourcing contract is a better cash flow and improved aging statuses. Aside from these two benefits, however, other surprising advantages have cropped up. These include the avoidance of the difficulties usually encountered in sending out computer-generated invoices, improvements of timing in payment posting, the availability of additional reports and information, a shift in the burden of technology and development costs, the improvement of financing opportunities and the separation of the financing function from the product and service function.
