InfoUSA buys Canadian list company

Article Abstract:

Direct marketing services provider InfoUSA has acquired mailing list supplier Getko Direct Response of Canada from Cedant Corp for $1.6 million. InfoUSA will use Getko to gain a foothold in Canada's direct marketing industry, which will henceforth be known as infoCanada. Getko, with annual revenues of $2 million, was established in 1991 as Syntony Marketing Inc. Getko founder Jonathan Latsky has been named the president of infoCanada's List, Directory and Reseller divisions.

Experian, Exactis deal closes amid spam suit

Article Abstract:

Experian Marketing Solutions' acquisition of Exactis from 24/7 Media Inc was completed in May 2001, despite a pending spam lawsuit against Exactis. The transaction costed Experian $13.5 million. The Exactis acquisition provides Experian with an e-mail marketing infrastructure, which it plans to combine with its direct marketing and customer relationship management services.

Draft Worldwide enters Canada and expands European operation

Article Abstract:

Direct marketing firm Draft Worldwide has expanded its network to 44 offices in 26 countries with the acquistion of four foreign direct marketing firms in Dec 1998 and Jan 1999. The newly acquired firms are Synthese Marketing in France, the Ginko Group in Canada, the Karamba Group in Belgium and Marketing Principles in the UK. Draft Worldwide will retain the top management in all four companies.
