Article Abstract:

Research looking at the demographic and social aspects of admissions into British universities has found although more people from the lower classes were admitted they were still under-represented. The project was carried out by the Universities and Colleges Admission Service which looked at applications and admissions for 1999.

Issues relating to educational accreditation systems in Europe are presented. A European conference in Prague in May 2001 discussed the intention to create a hight European education area, but this may be hampered by differences in the value and nature of qualifications between countries.
