A Moscow view on the West's role

Article Abstract:

The West must intervene economically and politically to mitigate the dangers involved in the fragmentation of the Former Soviet Union. As the military complex of the republics becomes less regulated, nuclear and chemical accidents are more likely. Economic deterioration could give rise to national-socialist regimes inclined to war among themselves. Without capital and technological assistance, oil production would plummet, reducing intercourse with Europe and inclining Russian policy towards Asian markets and capital. If human rights are not enforced, strategically destabilizing internal migrations will occur.

Zone of peace grows in global neighbourhood

Article Abstract:

The global economy is becoming more closely linked and it is of interest to both Asia and Europe to establish a closer economic and political relationship. Europe must look outward and protectionist agendas must be dropped. The Asia-Pacific area has half the world's people, a strong economy and seems to be enjoying relative peace. The time is right to establish a closer relationship with this area. Subgroups of the Assn of South East Asian Nations dedicated to keeping the area peaceful and economically vibrant are discussed.

Is it catching?
