Trip of a lifetime

Article Abstract:

It is a mistake to try to save money by using ballistic missile technology in the design of spacecraft, according to British engineer David Ashford. He believes that it should be possible to design a spacecraft which can take off from a normal airfield and can return to earth to be used again. He has worked on many significant aerospace projects since the 1970s, but is finding it hard to gain support for the work of his company, Spaceplanes. He believes that he would gain a commercial backer if he could show that ordinary people would be prepared to pay to travel on a reusable spacecraft.

The winning formula

Article Abstract:

Technology transfer between automobile-related industries and race-car manufacturers is the main reason for rapid development of race cars. Companies such as Benetton, McLaren and Williams, which manufacture Formula 1 cars, use Virtual Prototyping software to simulate car designs and evaluate the performance on the racetrack. Other companies such as the Aero Tech Laboratories make products according to client specifications. Induction Technology Group develops air filters using polyurethane.
