Scramble competition in newborn domestic rabbits for an unusually restricted milk supply

Article Abstract:

A study on the strong competition among littermates in rabbit pups for the mother's milk those are nursed for 3 min once every 24 h was executed. The study revealed that the rabbit, littermate compete for milk by scramble rather than by contest competition in which the heaviest pup had an advantage.

Reduced growth but not survival of chicks with altered gape patterns: Implications for the evolution of nestling similarity in a parasitic finch

Article Abstract:

The capabilities of common waxbill parents discriminate variation in nestling morphology are investigated by manipulating the gape flanges of their chicks. Common waxbill parents appear to respond to variation in chick phenotypes by adjusting provisioning rates towards young.

Article Abstract:

A study examining the relationship between parental care and survival of cubs of monogamous bat-eared foxes (Otocyon megalotis) is presented. Multivariate analysis was used in the study.
